Bosse Provoost and Ezra Veldhuis have been exploring the borderlands between theater, performance and installation art together since 2018. Their work is infused with a fascination for light, space and scenography.
Through compositions of light shifts, sound patches and silences, they create ever-changing spaces populated by semi-human-looking figures. Theater spaces are energized into ‘environments’, in which metatheatrical and ecosystemic logics diverge.
Poetry is not only at the origin of most of their work (Celan, Christensen, Brautigan…), the performances are also constructed following poetic principles and can be read as scenic poems.
In the past seasons, they have created the performances Matisklo (2018), SUN-SET (2020) and Indoor Weather (2021) within the P.U.L.S. trajectory (2017−2021) of Toneelhuis. Currently, the artistic practice of Ezra Veldhuis and Bosse Provoost is supported by Hiros.
In October 2023 they premiered their latest performance All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace.
In november 2024 they will present the first version of a new installation a pulse with no body a sun with no sky

He made his first performances (Herberg, Moore Bacon! and The Act of Dying) with Kobe Chielens, in which they explored the physical idiom of figures in animated films. In 2016 they received the KBC-Jongtheaterprijs at Theater Aan Zee for their performance Moore Bacon!
Between 2017 and 2021, Bosse Provoost was part of the Project for Upcoming artists for the Large Stage trajectory (P.U.L.S.) of Toneelhuis.
Throughout the years his performances have evolved from theatre with a strong visual signature to installation-performances, which play on theatricality, but are rather grounded in poetry, scenography and choreography.
